Wedding planning doesn’t always run to a twelve-month timetable. Venues become available, plans change, dates move, and sometimes the cake simply hasn’t been booked yet.
If your wedding is less than six weeks away and you are now searching for a last minute wedding cake, don’t panic. At DidiCakes we receive a surprising number of wedding cake enquiries at short notice and, providing we have availability and your venue is within our delivery area, we can often help.
Can you really order a wedding cake at short notice?
Yes. While plenty of wedding advice tells couples to book their cake many months in advance, that isn’t always necessary.
The important thing is availability. Wedding cakes take time to bake, decorate, transport and set up, and we will never take on more work than we can produce properly. But if there is space in our diary, a wedding being only a few weeks away certainly doesn’t rule us out.
In previous years we have seen a noticeable number of last minute wedding cake bookings towards the end of the wedding season, so if you have suddenly realised your date is getting close, you are definitely not the only one!

Be flexible with your wedding cake ideas
The less notice you have, the more useful a little flexibility becomes.
A completely bespoke design with lots of specialist elements may not always be practical at short notice. However, simple and elegant cakes can make fantastic wedding centrepieces. Textured buttercream, piped details and classic tiered designs can all create plenty of impact without overcomplicating things.
If you have photographs of wedding cakes you like, send them to us. They give us a quick idea of your preferred style and allow us to tell you what we can realistically achieve in the time available.
